Define: Friend

It's actually quite a simple task.

I am looking for the definition of the word "friend".

Is a friend there for you when you call? Or only when you message? Or only when they get around to it?

Is a friend someone who when you say "We need to hang out.", it happens. Or can it be someone you never see socially.

What defines a friend. What distinguishes friends from "close friends" and "bff"s?

Yes, I know my readership on this blog is now next to nothing, but for those that are still hanging around...just help me to understand...

Sarcasm By Design

So I tend to use sarcasm a lot, both in my writing and my speaking.

When I speak, it’s quite easy to tell sarcasm. But during typing, it is harder to detect.

So I figured I would start with some different font, maybe one of those that includes the word “Comic”, such as “Comic Sans”.

And then I realized…my phone doesn't have fonts…and fonts are different everywhere. So I have come up with a simple method to distinguish my sarcasm.

The tilde (~). Placed on both ends of your sarcasm, so those reading can tell where it begins and ends.

It is rarely used, so it wont confuse people when it is used to mark sarcasm.

All in favor of this idea, don’t comment on this.

All those who do like it, feel free to voice the awesomeness of this idea down below.

~ Great, you all love the idea :) ~

Educate Yourself and Don't Look Stupid

By now, we all know the famous Liam Neeson quote: "I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills".

This actually applies to me in my life. I don't have a lot of money, but I do have a particular set of skills.

And because of this set of skills, it leads to interesting job opportunities for me.

Now this all leads to people not knowing how to have a normal conversation with me, without making some really bad joke about my line of work.

I hear a lot of: "You should do _______" with the blank being filled by something that would be detrimental to my future in this line of work.

Why do people think that is funny?

I don't tell my banker friends to steal money.

I don't tell my Dr. friends to leave a gauze inside next time they close up a surgery.

I don't tell my accountant friends to fix the books.

So why is it okay for people to tell me that I should mess up at my job, because they think it would be a hoot and a holler?

I think people should educate themselves. And if you don't really know what it is that someone does for a career path, ask them to explain it to you.

Most people with interesting careers and skill sets would be more than happy to educate you on what it is they do.

And if you asked me what I did, and I explained it to you, you wouldn't sound like a complete idiot every time you make those bad jokes.

Damn You Google + New Look

So Google decided to randomly reset my page views to 0.

So instead of a few hundred, thousand, whatever, I now have 0 page views. So now I can hopefully get a few views on this to start it off again!

And since they messed me up, I decided to change the look of my blog.

What do y'all think?

Death of the Working Man

For years the way of America was, girl looking for a match would be looking for a working man.

Someone who would be bringing in an income, of any sort, and had an education to himself.

Then the Lakewood Craze hit.

The boys stopped going to college, and started learning 24/7.

Living off Mommy and Daddy's money.

Them, and their wives, and their 17 kids. And 9 grand kids. All living off those parents/grandparents monies.

And now, this is affecting me.

"How?", you may ask.

Well, you are lucky enough for me to tell you.

I am not a "learner".

I went to college. Finished college with a Bachelors Degree, and then went into the workforce.

And because of this life style, I never was able to find a set time to learn every day/week/etc.

Now I am looking for a "shidduch". Be it through friends, or the multitude of money-wasting websites online.

And every girl is looking for the same thing.

A guy who is learning.

If you have an education, and a job, you aren't quite what they are looking for.

Well girls, all I can say is, "I hope Mommy and Daddy have a lot of money to support you through life."

All I can say from my point of view: More of these "sheltered girls" need to go out, get actual educations, and come back to us Working Men.

Oops...Wrong Date

True story that I heard over the last two days:

A guy had a date in Monsey. Drove to the address, and pulled up in front of the driveway.

A girl in the house next door (also waiting for a date), came running out of her house, and got in the car.

Sorry guys, it's just a funny story...I can't say that they got married because of that mistake!

Motivation Comes Standard

People need often need motivation.

Heck, I need it just to post.

So, I'm not necessarily going to re-start posting anything worthwhile. But as a way to get back in the game, how about I post motivation every day (or so) , for all of us to laugh at/with/too/etc..
