It's All In The Smile

So the people who know me in the real world, know that I am looking to date, yet it never ceases to amaze me the stupidity of some people.

I was hanging out with a friend a few weeks ago (let's call him Yisroel), and when he left, another married female friend came over, and asked me who he was.

I told her his name, and asked her "Why?"

Her response?

"Well, he has a great smile, I think I have a few girls to set him up with if he's looking."

Wait...what?!

Now, don't get me wrong, Yisroel happens to be one of the nicest guys I know, but you are trying to set him up, without knowing him at all, because of his smile?!

Ted Kaczynski had a beautiful smile...I doubt anyone would want to date him.

And on that note, this married friend, who I've known for 5+ years now, has NEVER, not once, tried setting me up with somebody.

So sure, set up my friends. But don't come to me, and ask me his name, because he has a nice smile. I too have a nice smile, especially after I vent my anger by punching you in the face.

    2. Lol, nothing really to do with his smile, his manifesto is rather interesting. All over the place, but a rather unique read. And his methods of operation were genius.

  2. That is a bit inconsiderate of her... She should have Tried setting you up before asking for your friend simply because of a smile.. That said, smiling is VERY important. Boys: smile :D

    1. I smile. Even through the tough times. But this reasoning for setting someone up is the exact reason why I hate the shadchin process.

  3. I'm sorry you feel that way. It sucks. And I'm sure that friend probably knows that you are looking. But maybe say something to her, like, it's great that you want to set up my friends, but hey if you know of anyone that is compatible for me, I'm looking too. Maybe she simply forgot and it's not on the forefront of her mind, and when she saw your friend he was fresh in her mind so she came up with some names.

And I know it's hard, but remember that it is all up to Hashem, and it will happen when it is supposed to happen, with the right person. And not a second before then.

And G-d willing you'll meet someone very soon. Before you punch your friend.

    1. So, somehow, the emails that I'm supposed to get when someone comments, have all been going to SPAM...so I just noticed this...sorry for the delay!
